Friendly service. Lovely food. Nice venue. Deserves to be busier.
I'd live here if they let me. Once I went for lunch and dinner on the same day, had a pizza for starter and for main. Staff are nice too! X

Went here on a Sunday recently, lovely little restaurant and very welcoming . Had the cauliflower soup which was tasty but definitely needed to be much hotter. Lovely fresh bread and butter served which was a nice touch. My friends had haggis balls starter which they said were gorgeous but could have done with 3 instead of only 2 as they are quite small. Main was minute steak and chips which we all had and was tasty, however definitely needed to be served with decent side salad, as again, smallish portions.. Always feel disappointed in a main meal when there isn't a bit more than a few bits of lamb leaf or rocket when it's easy enough to offer crunchy lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber and few other things, adding colour and flavour.. I think it may be time restaurants offer the same for soups as we have for coffee options, extra hot! All in all, we had a lovely little meal and great service here...
Evening visit. Delightful and friendly. Personal and personable service. Couldn't fault the food or the service. Will certainly be high on our list to visit next time we're in Edinburgh.

Very nice Birthday meal here. The staff are friendly and made the visit pleasant. I found the restaurant to be quite quiet for a Saturday night.
We love good dim sum and have eaten at many restaurants. Imperial is a big family restaurant and the day we went was full of local Chinese families having the weekly fill. The menu is fairly comprehensive with such unusual choices as whelks and tripe. The menu also includes congee a good sign as that's a go to food for most Chinese. We enjoyed our food choices but could not make this 5 stars. The squid cakes were good as were the shrimp parcels and the Cheung fun. Some items we chose were overwhelming such as the beef balls which were huge. Its not a restaurant to dismiss lightly, so we will go again and try other combinations. Down stairs is one of Edinburgh's outstanding Chinese supermarkets. Proper Chinese food.
