Helpful and useful staff when you need a physical branch.

Really helpful staff. Compared to the high street bank I also use, Nationwide is a breath of fresh air. Also have a pretty decent app, which means I find myself coming here less.

Dental Surgeries

Morningside Dental Clinic

150 Morningside Rd, Edinburgh EH10 4PX, UK – 0131 447 6431

Amazing. I've been terrified of the dentist my whole life, and had avoided it completely for ten years by the time I booked an appointment at Morningside Dental. Susan was perfect - she actually made it enjoyable! She's sweet and kind, and really gentle. I didn't need anything but a scale and polish but if I did I'd trust her completely. Recommend to anyone but especially those who are scared of dentists!

Excellent service. Very professional, superb knowledge and expertise.

Church Hill Dental

37-39 Morningside Rd, Edinburgh EH10 4DR, UK – 0131 447 6279

Iain Tunnah is a bright, enthusiastic and personable guy who is well respected in the community. He is great with children and since he is so genuine and caring, adults are put at ease too. The premises are bright, fresh and new... And amazingly, so are the magazines! He also has a great bunch of receptionists and nurses.

Iain Tunnah has completely transcended our family's expectations of a trip to the dentist. Dr Tunnah displays unrivalled expertise, unlimited enthusiasm and pure dedication to his profession. We feel very privileged to have him as our dentist and value his efforts tremendously. He understands teeth and concomitantly understands his patients. You will not find a better dentist than him.

Slateford Medical Centre

27 Gorgie Park Close, Edinburgh Area, Gorgie Park Rd, Edinburgh EH14 1NQ, UK – 0131 442 8700

Doctor and nurse very friendly and easy to talk to. Very supportive. However the receptionist is incredibly rude to patients. Not a nice environment for patients who are unwell.

Doctors and medical staff excellent. Just getting by the reception staff can be a problem.

Craiglockhart Surgery

161 Colinton Rd, Edinburgh EH14 1BE, UK – 0131 455 8494

I am so grateful for the terrific support given to me by both doctors, nurses and receptionists over the last few years. I cannot praise highly enough the professionalism and the caring approach.

Been going here for a long time. Doctors were very considerate and know what they're doing, receptionist was reasonable and the fish tank in the waiting room is cool.

Braids Medical Practice

Braids Medical Practice, Camus Ave, Edinburgh EH10 6QT, UK – 0131 445 5999

Great surgery with genuine staff. I went here with a painful back and was struggling to work, I got referred to the hospital for x-rays within 4 days and found out I had a compressed disk in my spine. Can't recommend them enough.

Friendly staff

The Edinburgh Clinic

40 Colinton Rd, Edinburgh EH10 5BT, UK – 0131 447 2340

Excellent service from start to finish could not be faulted from the first meeting with Gp to the procedure it's self would use again first class

An in-depth appointment with an expert consultant, the friendliest staff, impressive clinical facilities and an incredibly calming environment...that was my experience of The Edinburgh Clinic. Their follow-up aftercare was excellent and I bypassed NHS waiting times to be seen quickly and at a time of my choosing. So deserving of a five-star review

Royal Edinburgh Hospital

Morningside Pl, Edinburgh EH10 5HF, UK – 0131 537 6000

The genuine patient reviews fill me with such sadness, I hope the established approach to how we treat these people changes soon. The patients deserve, freedom and autonomy and a safe space to have these needs met in small every day ways, choices about where they sleep and what that space looks like, choices about whether they cook or not, access to the phone to call loved ones and being met by skilled befrienders to meet their need to be heard. I have now moved away from the area but there is a new building and often an environmental change can facilitate social / structural change. I hope that the review level on here improves.

Been in worse hotels/ b & b's meadows ward was my choice or maybe not my choice but theirs for my unplanned holiday. Food could be a little better but good sized portions. Own room was nice but had more hits than the Beatles had seen better days. Staff was cool patients / other holiday goers where nice I do not plan to visit this place again by choice but if you end up their enjoy it for what it is

Find Recycling Centres

Community Recycling Centre

Bankhead Ave, Edinburgh EH11 4EA, UK – 0131 529 3030

Having read some of the reviews of the Sighthill Recycling Centre I was daunted about taking my old kitchen here in a twin axle trailer. However, having visited here 2 times in the same day I can say that the experience wasn't as bad as some reviewers. On the first visit we had no contact with any staff. On the second visit a staff member approached us as we were putting the rubbish in the wrong area but he was pleasant enough and helped us to the right area.

Unlike some other customers, I had a great experience when I went to the Sighthill Waste Recycling Centre today. I turned up with 2 bags of waste for landfill, electrical stuff, boxes of cards, glass, metal and spent spotlight bulbs. I stopped to ask Kevin (Hearts supporter) and Paul (from Essex) where various items should be left and within seconds they followed me round to the boot of the car and started to heave the items out. They were funny, polite, helpful and wouldn't let me lift any of the heavy stuff. They are a credit to their employers and I hope they are complimented on their customer service. Thanks guys - you made my trip so easy! Carol

Regenerate Edinburgh

26, 50 Dumbryden Rd, Edinburgh EH14 2AB, UK – 0131 629 4480

Really great! They did the job on the same as I called them. Friendly and very competent staff. Will definitely use again.

Brilliant service, I have used this company a few times now.

Give and get free stuff. Here you will find lots of items that people are willing to give away, for FREE! This is instead of taking them to a local landfill site. The aim of this site is to reduce the amount of waste that goes to landfill (20.9 million tonnes of it last year in the UK) and recycling is great news for the environment.
We all know that we need to recycle more - and this is a great way of doing it.

Nursery and Preschools

Scallywags Childrens Day Nursery Edinburgh

62 Longstone Rd, Melbourne, Edinburgh EH14 2BA, UK – 0131 443 2002

I have just moved to Melbourne in Derby and I am looking for child care so I can start my new job. I visited the nursery with my daughter and we were made to feel welcome from the moment we walked through the door. The staff are lovely people and my daughter was invited to take part in snack time. The children were all well mannered and very friendly...my daughter did not want to leave! Needless to say I have chosen this day nursery above the others I have visited, it has a lovely atmosphere, and it just feels right. I have piece of mind now that my daughter will be well cared for whilst I am at work, which is the most important thing in the world to me.

Scallywags is an incredible Nursery School - the best education a small child can get in the Derby area.

Colinton Private Nursery

22 Dreghorn Loan, Edinburgh EH13 0DE, UK – 0131 477 7330

Lovely nursery. The staff are all polite and very friendly. My daughter loves Colinton Private Nursery and has grown in confidence whilst being there. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the nursery to anyone looking for childcare.

My children currently attend this nursery and we're thrilled with the care and support the staff provide. The nursery has a relaxed atmosphere and my children have thrived at Colinton Private Nursery (CPN). My oldest was at a different nursery before we moved to Colinton and, although his former nursery excelled in the Care Inspectorate Reports, we found he much preferred CPN in practice. Contrary to his former nursery, he slept and ate well at CPN and was much happier. I trust the staff to look after my children well. On one occasion, when picking up my child, I witnessed a girl choking on her snack. Within a second a staff member was attending to the girl and began first aid and the situation was resolved as quickly as it started. We have found the staff to be caring, attentive and with the best interests of our children at the forefront of their practice.

Merchiston Castle School, Edinburgh

294 Colinton Rd, Edinburgh EH13 0PU, UK – 0131 312 2200

I was a pupil at Merchiston Castle School from 2000 until 2005 (which was when I finished my A-Levels). I really enjoyed, and have fond memories of, my time at Merchiston. The staff and teachers were always very helpful and facilitating to the pupils' needs. I cannot recommend this school enough!

Absolutely top notch. Had my boys at another competing school in EDI for a bit and found the culture gravely lacking, and teachers unwilling to really care about it beyond a bit of lip service. In contrast, Merchi walks the talk through and through. Very 'real,' happy, enriched boys who support each other and are supported by teachers and staff with emotional intelligence and true caring for the experience and excitement for learning. Fabulous education. Where at prior school the kids cut each other down, here one of my sons had a peer warmly talk him through some homesickness as he tried to fall asleep, etc. Such a warm, welcoming place and parents are always about and welcome. Whereas the prior school was a scratchy starched shirt, Merchi is a warm, cozy cashmere jumper. You really can't find better. Be sure to do a taster day as again, some schools sell well but your child can only thrive and be happy and excited to go to school if the experience is amazing every single day, with every single teacher. And as a lesson learned on my part - trust your child after the taster day. You don't want to have to switch schools after 3 months because Mom and Dad were impressed by a lower-culture school just b/c "TB went there..." Merchi offers the real thing through and through.

Edinburgh Steiner School

60 Spylaw Rd, Edinburgh EH10 5BR, UK – 0131 337 3410

The care for the children and attention to detail that the staff give is outstanding. I wish there were more schools like this one. The children are happy probably because they are allowed to be the individuals that they are. I love the fact school starting age is 6 or 7 in steiner schools. Research shows that this is better for the children's self esteem and also for academic achievement as children learn most from playing before the age of 7. I have met many wonderful people through the school. It is a lovely community of families.
